CashTrac 6.0 Installation Instructions
Chapter 2 of the 100 page instruction manual provided on your new
diskettes describes the CashTrac installation procedure in detail.
Documentation may be printed to a printer or to disk and may be read
using the DOS MORE command (see DOS manual). This instruction sheet
explains how to print the manual and complete the installation.
Printing Part 1 of the manual:
Printing the first part (Chapters 1 and 2) of the instruction manual
requires 28 pages of paper. Make sure your printer is set to the top of
a page and is turned on. Boot your computer, set the default drive to
A:, and put CashTrac SYSTEM DISK 1 in drive A:. Run the configuration
program by typing CONFIG followed by the Enter key. Press any key to go
to the main menu, then select option 2 (Printing Documentation). Select
part 1 of the documentation. To print to disk, in the "Where to print"
field, select a drive letter such as B or C and have a disk with 270K
free space in that drive, otherwise leave "P" for printer. Use the Enter
or cursor down key to go to the Start Page field and select "i" (without
the quotes) to start printing with the title page. Leave the "Where is
file" and End Page fields blank and press the End key to begin printing.
Printing Part 2 of the manual:
Printing the remainder of the manual requires 77 blank pages. When part
1 finishes, put SYSTEM DISK 2 in drive A: and select Option 2 on the main
menu. This time select part 2 in the top field of the documentation
print screen and repeat the remainder of the process for printing part 1.
Pick a Start Page of 23, and press the End key to start printing.
Printing selected pages of the manual:
If you decide to print individual pages later, repeat the above process,
but select only the pages required to be printed. Please note that the
documentation files are squeezed slightly and may only be printed using
the CashTrac configuration program. Printing to disk unsqueezes the
files for reading on the screen or loading in an editor program. Files
printed to disk are named CT6DOC.001 and CT6DOC.002.
Completing the installation:
When the manual is complete, press Esc to return to the main menu, then
exit to DOS. Do not attempt to run the main CashTrac program at this
point, otherwise errors (but no damage) will occur. To complete the
installation, follow the detailed procedure in Chapter 2, which consists
of:
* Putting the command SET CT6=X in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file (otherwise an
ERROR 7 "out of memory" error will result under some circumstances),
* Making new system and data disks, or an appropriate hard disk
subdirectory,
* Copying files to the appropriate disks,
* Running the configuration program to set colors and other default
values,
* Converting old CashTrac data to the new format.
This demonstration copy of CashTrac is limited to 200 entries per
checking account (3200 entries) and 200 investment entries. When the
limit is reached, all functions continue to operate but no more data
may be entered.
Again, to avoid problems, please read the manual. Good luck and happy
CashTrac-ing!
